Relaxing the upper part of our body using the body scan helps us to train our mind.
The reason why we practice the body scan is that it’s a very helpful meditation for our body, mind, and mental health. With respect to training the mind this meditation gives us some appreciation and insight as to how we are able to focus our attention.
Something as simple as becoming aware of your shoulder, and then zoom into that, notice, and zoom out. A general awareness and specific awareness.
We can see from this meditation how we can train and control the mind.
We tell our mind to do something and our mind becomes aware.
We can learn to not be distracted and start to train our mind.
