When we sit down to train in meditation it is beneficial for our practice to establish our intention.

We can practice without an intention, but this is like sitting in a car and not driving to any location.

An intention which I encourage when guiding retreats is:

‘I am training in meditation to bring peace into my life. I am going to share this experience with all those around me – my family, friends, all the people in my community, society, and world.’

With this intention at the forefront of our mind, as we start our practice our meditation becomes a cause for peace in our life and world.

As our meditation draws to a close we can renew the intention and dedicate the good energy from our practice so that it can fulfill our wish.
